In a lot of countries, universities are offering Maintenance Manager Courses. Education and training for Maintenance Professionals on lower level seems to be of less interest – worldwide. Nevertheless, market mapping has shown that special training and educational needs exist on lower level. Industry needs more skilled Maintenance Personnel.

Companies in different sectors are struggling with shortages of skilled workers.

Many active employees work at lower skill levels. However, the Process Industry needs more and more multi-skilled Maintenance Specialists able to function at higher level (Maintenance Technician and supervisor levels – EQF level 4+ and 5) 2).

A European Experience

In the frame of the Leonardo Project VocTrainMaint were developed the corresponding syllabi for both levels (Maintenance Technician and Maintenance Supervisor). The learning outcomes can be easily implemented in a well structured Industrial company. In some cases, they could even be used for structuring Maintenance tasks.

FOCUS ON LEADERSHIP

Regional education and training workshops have now to be formed to start the implementation process and the exchange of experience. We have to take our responsibility very seriously and recognize the significance of Education and Training.

Interested in organizing a workshop ? Please contact us

1) VocTrainMaint was a Leonardo project running from October 2009 to end of 2011 under the Lifelong Learning Programme and financially supported by the European Commission.
More information and results
A partnership program is in preparation.

2) EQF = European Qualification Framework
