First, we have to realize that Maintenance is a key business for many companies.
Is the world likely to slide into recession? If yes, what will be the future role of Maintenance.
With all our monetary problems, we must be prepared for the next crisis. What companies have to do, is to increase quality.
This evidence was also pointed out during the World Economic Forum on 14 September 2011, at the session of the Annual Meeting of the New Champions 2011, also known as Summer Davos, in Dalian, Liaoning province, China. Mr Schwab, executive chairman of the WEF, pointed out we have to act collectively and responsibly (China Daily 14 and 15 September 2011).
How can we implement quality without an outstanding maintenance support?
The TnPM Congress gave an clear answer. We have to focus on the tiny “n” meaning Normalized Behavior for improving the culture within companies. “n” stands for competence and Quality Maintenance.
Peter Willmott stressed that we should not focus exclusively on maintenance cost reduction. We could earn much more money by reducing systematically major losses ( losses of time, performance, energy, defect products, as well as losses concerning the integrity management – SHE).
